The safety and wellbeing of every student is our highest priority. This policy sets out how we fulfil that responsibility.
GCSEwithDelta is fully committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of every child and young person who uses our service. We believe that every student deserves to be safe, respected, and supported throughout their education. This policy applies to all tutors, staff, and anyone acting on behalf of GCSEwithDelta, without exception.
Our Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) is Delta Ibanga, Qualified Pharmacist and lead GCSE science tutor. The DSL is responsible for managing all safeguarding concerns, coordinating with external agencies where necessary, and ensuring this policy is reviewed, implemented, and acted upon. Every tutor working with students under 18 is required to hold a current background check appropriate to where they are based, an Enhanced DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) certificate for UK-based tutors, or the recognised overseas-equivalent police clearance certificate for tutors based outside the UK, before engaging with any student. Evidence of a valid certificate must be submitted to GCSEwithDelta before a tutor's first session. All tutors are also required to complete accredited online safeguarding training before teaching. Certificates are stored securely and reviewed on renewal.
All lessons are delivered through our secure platform. Sessions may be recorded for safeguarding purposes; recordings are stored securely, accessible only to authorised staff, and deleted after 12 months unless retained in connection with an active safeguarding matter. No lesson shall take place via an unsecured or personal video channel. Tutors must not contact students directly outside of the GCSEwithDelta platform.
Students, parents, and tutors must not share personal contact details (including phone numbers, personal email addresses, or social media profiles) through the platform or during sessions. All communication must remain within the GCSEwithDelta messaging system. Any breach of this will be treated as a safeguarding concern and investigated accordingly.
All tutors and staff are trained to recognise indicators of abuse, neglect, or exploitation. These may include: unexplained changes in behaviour, mood, or attendance; disclosures made by a student during or between sessions; signs of physical harm; concerns about online grooming or inappropriate contact. Any concern, however minor it may appear, must be reported to the DSL immediately and must not be investigated independently.

GCSEwithDelta acts on all safeguarding concerns in line with Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE) and Working Together to Safeguard Children.
